Help picking new tank size

Hi All,

At this time I have a 35 Gal. Hex tank (18" across, 9" sides) and I realize that I am going to need a bigger tank soon. According to my stock, I would like to know if a 55 gal. would be large enough, and how soon I should be looking to get this tank. I don't plan on adding any more fish at this time, but I will replace smaller fish with more botia as they pass on. I would also like some subsrate suggestions as I'm not real happy with the basic tank gravel in the tank now.

Anyway the list with their size

1 Pl*co 7"
3 Clown Loaches (2) 3-1/2" the third 1-1/2"
2 Yo-Yo's About 3 inches long
2 Striatas about 2"
2 Guppies normal size
2 Neons normal size
2 Glassfish 1-1/2"

Thanks for any input
