Growing algae on rocks for fun and profit...

For the last two weeks I have been growing algae on some flat stones to put in my two river tanks. Today, I put them in. Its amazing to see judy how quickly the hillstreams took to them. Almost immediately after putting the rocks into the tanks, they were covered with various species. P. cheni, P. fasciatus, L. disparis, Hemmimyzon sinensis all quickly started grazing. Wait until the Gastros find them.
All I did was take three river stones, wash them and then rub an algae impregnated Qtip. I then placed them in a plastic container, filled with tank water from a water change and put them under an old aquarium light.
