Botia hymenophysa

A few weeks ago I bought three loaches from a local aquatics shop, sold as
Zebra Loaches, (Botia striata). However, having seen Zebra loaches since in other places, I
began to suspect that mine were not what they claimed to be.

A visit to loaches online taught me that Zebra Loaches, (Botia striata), are often mistaken for Botia hymenophysa, and my loaches
closely resemble the drawing of a Botia hymenophysa shown on the site.

The description of this fish says that it can grow to 8" in length or more
and can be aggressive. Mine are certainly growing almost visibly and chasing
my other fish, (swordtail, mollies, gouramis), and each other around the
tank day and night, although one of them is sharing a cave with my plec and
the two of them seem to be getting along famously.
