Threatened species such as sids...

I'm curious... How are a threatened species such as B. sidthimunki so readily available in the US? My understanding is that there is a ban on exporting wild caught sids from their native habitats. Could that mean that the sids currently available are from captive breeding in the US? On another note, am I possibly supporting a black market & further encouraging their extinction by purchasing them? My conscience needs to know because I'm totally addicted to these fish & plan on getting more.
