This is how I acclimate to my Show tank. I think it ensures nearly 0 stress(other than during gentle netting:).
All my weekly 50% water changes to the (10 gal) Q tank are made with the Show tank water to keep it exactly the same, nitrates etc. I give both tanks roughly the same % fresh make-up water during this maintenance. Then before transferring fish the Q gets siphoned with a 1/2" hose down to about 20% while a 1/4" inch hose feeds in from the Show tank. This is enough flow to maintain temp also, because I have to unplug the Q heater. I might even do this twice. Then I move the fish up and gradually top off the Show tank.
