Cycled or not cycled that is the question

I recently decided to break down my Q tank a juwel 70L to replace the gravel with sand. I have finally moved all the fish into the main community tank so i had no need to keep the filter cycled. I broke down the tank and cleaned everything with water/vinegar solution. I separated all the filter parts and cleaned them out in aquarium water..popped them into a bag overnight. I reset up the tank the next day with sand and reasembled the filter. I decided to start the cycle with a few guppy. I am checking for amonia twice daily..well that was sat morning and here are on wednesday night and nothing..i am feeding regularly (twice a day) and good amounts as well?..so whats going on?..could my filter have survived overnight? it seems unlikely ?..I have checked
