Hanging out near the surface

What would you folks say is the most likely reason for one or more of a group of Clowns to hang out near the surface of the water?
They don't seem distressed, and swim about from time to time, but two of my six are frequently found nose up, about an inch below the surface. It only seems strange because the rest are firm bottom lovers, when not otherwise engaged in the loachy dance or foraging through plants.
Any ideas?
Mark.
