PH swing

I have carried out 2 partial water changes this week in order to soften the hard water in my community tank. As a result the PH has risen (to the level I need for this community tank). I have mollies, clown loaches and angelfish. They are all very lethargic, hardly moving around, not really eating their food. They have been like this for 2 days since the last water change. Is this the result of the PH change and will they all die? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
