Reddened Spotted Weather Loach

I recently bought a spotted weather loach to add to my daughter's aquarium.

The other day I noticed that it was becoming reddened along the bottom of its body and then the inside of its gills became red.

There has also, at times, been some color loss (like it is "fading") on the top part of the fish, along with some slight bloating. All of this comes and goes and the fish can seem mostly fine one moment and then look ill the next. The fish seems most healthful after feeding.

What should I expect for this fish? Is there anything I can do to help it? Does it present any disease risk to other fishes?

Thanks for any information you can pass along on this.
