need a herbivore...

Hi, i bought a pair of hillstream loaches about 7-8 months ago, and so far they have done nothing to eat the algae in my tank, which is the reason i got them. I don't want to go the pleco route as it is only a 29, and i am also keeping in this tank already: 3 black skirt tetras, 3 red eye tetras, and 5 botia angelicus. There is a fair amount of flow (a mj 250 and a mj 600). Had platies in the tank, but they were wreaking havoc with their babies. NOw my tank seems colorless. I was wondering if there was a fish for me that solved either one or both of my problems. I need some kind of centerpeice fish or thing with color, and i also need some kind of herbivore that will eat the algae. They also can't harm what i already have in there, unless it means i have to swap out the hillstreams. Thanks.
