Worried about getting loaches again

I previously had 3 clown loaches in my tank along with some silver tipped tetras and a Pleco. The tank caught a nasty case of ick and I treated it accordingly, unfortunately I was only able to save one of the loaches. I waited about a month before purchasing any additional loaches, then about 2 weeks later I noticed Ick on them! I treated again and unfortunately lost all 3 loaches. It's been about 6 months now and I still have the tetras, Pleco and now 2 bosemani rainbows in the tank, but I miss the loaches ( they were both mine and my wife's favorites ). I would like to get clown loaches again, but am apprehensive about them considering my past experiences. Can anyone offer any advice about perhaps preparing my tank for them, if I choose to introduce clown l
