DPS units?

Hello all.
As I contemplate a larger tank (thinking about a 50g), the main problem I face is power supply... Our poor entertainment unit shares the same two wall plugs with two tanks (7 plugs) already. It is clear that things will have to be shifted about to compensate for a new larger tank...
Then the issue of power outages comes up. It was suggested by the fellow I appeal to in times of need with things electric that I consider buying a DPS unit like some people (and businesses) have for their computers. In the event of a power failure, the batteries in such a unit would keep going for a while.
