Negligence = ugly surprises

There are times in fishkeeping when I wish that I had graduated from some horrible kind of aquarium bootcamp, with all the discipline and sterile vigour for routine maintenance which I so clearly lack today.
By sheer coincidence today, during my fairly regular and fastidious tank cleanings, I happened to check the underside of the hood for my 20 gallon. Lo, but there before the grace of God sat a slick of green algae, nearly right across the glass panel.
