polka dots and filtration question

tomorrow i'm gonna do the weekly water change on the polka dots' tank and after reading mike's article on them and thinking about current LOWER in the tank, i have a question for you filter/current experts....

right now i am running two eheim filters (a 2215 and a 2026?...first generation "pro" series) on this 40BR tank (18"front to back and 26" long...dunno how high...kinda short, maybe 18" tall)....both are outflowing with "spray bars" (one eheim, one homemade) from one end of the tank...one output is near the surface and one is a couple of inches below that so that really neither is LOW in the tank. I'm wondering if it makes any sense to keep one
