Black Kuhli - life span?

I have a loach that I believe is Pangio javanicus based on pictures on this site. Although it's popular name is Black Kuhli, the coloring is more of a brown. A simple question - What's the life span of these in captivity? I have 1 that's been hanging around since before October '87 (which is when I moved into a new house and had to transport it along with other fish from a 55 gallon tank). He/she's about 6-7cm, currently lives with 6 rosy tetras, 2 albino corys and a plecostomus in a 20 gallon tank. The loach generally stays under a few pieces of red slate and comes out when I feed the tank. For a 6 or 7 year stretch it would only come out once every few months - to the point where we (kids and I) would be excited if we had a 'snakie sighting' since we couldn't be sure it was even still alive.
