Dark spot on caudal fin

I recently purchased 2 clown loaches and put them in my 20 gallon tank with 9 danios and 2 silver tip tetras. The tank is a 20L with an Eclipse3 filtration system (which Marineland reccomends for their 37 gallon) so there is plenty of filtration. I keep the temp at 80 degrees and they have places to hide throughout the tank - they especially like a far corner behind a large piece of driftwood and have set up shop there. They both seem very active and happy and have great color but I recently spotted a small black dot on (it seems to be inside - the fin is somewhat transparent) the center of the caudal (rear) fin just where it joins the body. I can't find any literature that addresses dark spots. Someone suggested this is a normal maturation spot, but they are not sure. Does anyone have any knowledge or advice about this.

Thanks
