Hey Loach Fans,

As all of you guys probably know there has been a new Botia species added (B. kubotai)= angelicus from the aquarium trade. I recently contacted Zootaxa and received this paper by the famous Ichthyologist Dr. Maurice Kottelat. This paper turns the nomenclature of the loaches in the subfamily Botiinae upside down. Without going into the reasoning why these changes have been made as the paper is 18 pages long, I thought I would at list the changes that Dr. Kottelat has made to the Botiinae. Subfamily Botiinae: Genera Botia, Leptobotia, Chromobotia, Syncrossus, Yasuhikotakia, Sinibotia, and Parabotia. The species in the Genera are as follows:

Genus Botia
B. almorhae
B. birdi
B. macrolineata
B. histronica
B. striata
B. B. dario
B. kubot
