Dangerous decorations

I almost lost my BKG yesterday!
He got stuck in a 4inch mold defect that had an opening I didn't notice.
I disassembled my whole 40 gallon searching for him. Even lifted the UGF. I saved the gravel in water. But I am sure the media is weak now. testin time!
Boor dutch, with the clown always trying to sleep with him, he finally went right up into a bad place. With his bum fin he probably couldn't manuever to get out. to think he was in a small space for nearly three days and possibly not fully under water.
after the filter and ruining my water, i started looking the decorations in a bucket over carefully. With a flashlight I finallly saw the hole around the bend! The loaches can't fit(They are 3 times Dutch in girth. One is almost as long as him now.)I filledd my bath tub, treated it, dunked theh suspect decoration, put an areator in the hole and dug out my jeweler's saw. Soon as I had it almost through I cracked off the top and there was my poor Dutch. i prompty removed him from the tub full of shvings and put him in a warm QT to await the tank being redone. That was Sunday that he disappeared. Tuesday night, when he hadn't appeared for scallops I knew there was a problem more than shyness. He has been eating heartily now. And hunger has made him more firm on the loaches violating his personal space(one came to snag a scallop and got a solid nip for his effort, not that he seemed very dejected , the delinquent!)
I guess Aquarium safe decorations..aren't. The lizard stuff out of resin, i usedd gravel and tank sealant to plug all small and suspicious holes. And I always file any sharp edges and off hole to smoothness (don't want them snagged, stucj and filleted!). But I had missed this defect! I'll be twice more cautious with hollow decoration now.
