Seachem acid buffer update

Posted By: Dr. Momfish <gkadar@sympatico.ca>
Date: Wednesday, 3 March 2004, at 7:34 a.m.

As of this morning the pH in the 20 gallon tank is 6.6. This required the addition of 6 (six) teaspoons of acid buffer. The last addition was yesterday at 8 a.m.

Initially because at 3 teaspoons there had not been a significant shift, I considered the possiblity that the stones in this aquarium may contain limestone but such is not the case. It appears they are igneous origin and pH neutral.

The pH of the water in the bucket is stable at about 6.0.

Water hardness is 220ppm. Roughly kH and gH are between 4.5 and 5.5. (I'd have to check the Toronto water analysis stats.... I was looking at the paperwork not so long ago but the old memory banks can't remember the exact figures for these measurements.)
