Kubotai behaviour...

I only have one kubotai, but when I added him in with my clowns and histrionica, some interesting things happened.
First of all, my three clowns had turned up their barbels at fresh vegetables for a long time. The kubotai went nuts for cucumber, though, so I started adding it again to that tank on a regular basis. Now the clowns all spend time gorging on cucumber - as though they don't want to miss out on a good thing, even if they don't care for it.
Also, my kubotai and histrionica have developed a rather strong bond (I'm sure due to colour and markings, which are relatively similar). The two of them spend long periods together, and do a charming dance each evening after the lights go out, swimming all over the tank while nearly touching. I have yet to see the frantic kind of play that has been described here among numerous kubotais, but they've definitely got something going on. I like to think of it as romantic, but alas...
Anyway, I found it interesting that the behaviour of one Botia can effect the behaviours of others - even different species.
Thought I should mention it.
Mark.
