can i use this wood

Ok, so i got a job landscaping on the weekends and have been bringing home rocks for my new cichlid setup. I found this awesome peice of wood with a cave like crevice that follows a tunnel out the other end. Anyways, my question is can this be used instead of driftwood? Would this turn my water brown like some other wood?
