Really Good Filtration Systems

I'm just 2-1/2 weeks into tropical fish now and am highly considering getting a high grade filter/filtration system, as it seems that this is the key to making life easier for the fish and me. it seems the biggest difference between the original environment of loaches and other tropical fish and their tank environment is always having a good supply of good or fresh water. in fact it seems that you can spend up front to have a really good filtration system or spend bit by bit as the months go by for all the medication, liquid treatments for ammonia, nitrate and good bacteria and new fish to replace the lost, etc. In other words, you're going to have to pay in other ways for not having a really good filtration system. in these tank kits i've so far purchased is the Whisper 10 Power Filter and the Penguin 170 Bio-Wheel Power Filter - supposedly the bio-wheel makes a considerably better filter than the other. i'd like to hear of any data you have regarding the above re filtration, as well as and any brand name or higher end filtration systems you would recommend. Thanks in advance on behalf of my family and our fish.
