Grayed out Clowns

Hi! I've been keeping Clown Loaches for a few years now. I originally had 3 but one died two years ago. The other two have grown and are now around 5 inches long. I recently moved them to a larger tank because they kept fighting in the small one, I've also added another small clown because I know they prefer to be in groups. The problem is that the two larger ones now hide all day and are permenantly 'grayed out' except when they come out at night. All the water parameters seem fine and I keep them at 26 deg C. They seem stressed about something and I don't know what. They have hiding places but don't seem to use them, prefering to stick their noses in the back corner of the tank all day. I have introduced a 6 inch Plec over the last couple of weeks, but I've seen Clowns living with much larger Plecs. Also, the new Clown (about 2 inches) seems
