Clown loach got intimate

A pair were getting very intimate tonight after lights off... I know they were not fighting because I saw the others fought before.
The smaller one was swimming/dancing more vibrantly while the bigger one kept chasing it.
When the big one caught the small one, the big one would push the small loach down - almost like trying to push its stomach to the others.

Is this another way of fighting?
I have not seen this particular pair fought before.

But they couldn't be mating... since they're only 6" & 8" long (quite old on the age, not certain since I adopted them)

Anyway... I thought it was interesting and wonder if anyone here could share their insights.
