Fish trouble again

I posted earlier about itchy loaches. I just had a barb, I think, explode. It had had a fat tummy for a while. I figured just a fat fish, It didn't eat very excessively, and seemed happy enough. This morning I went to grab a CD from next to the tank and saw something white in my little bush. My first thought was "did the rock break???" Then it occured to me that fish turn pale when dead(yeah I'm kinda slow). I frantically looked for my loach, and found him sleeping under the rock with the pleco. I look and see a barb with a torn up tummy. The cat fish were wondering about him and I thought "those must be some vicious cats" I look at my other live barb and realise that it wasn't the one with the fat tummy. So it must have exploded. It ate too little if anything so I can't imagine the cause being that it
