clown loach breeding???

I have watched some very interesting displays from 2 of my 5 clown loaches over the last few weeks. The second largest (about 3and3/4")turns very dark. The black stripes stay but the yellow/orange turns to a very dark grey almost black colour. It has also developed a black spot towards the tail end of its body. It spends a lot of time with a clown loach slightly smaller than itself. It pushes the loach so the two bodies are in-line and against each other and they quiver, they also seem do a lot of 'kissing' and they seem to go into what is a mating position. This goes on for a few hours and then the colour returns to normal apart from the head which has stayed slightly darker than the rest of the body. The smaller loach does not have any colour change.
