convulsing dojo

Hello. I have two dojo loaches, @8 inches each. I have seen one of them do this convulsing thing before about a year ago, kind of like when a cat is hocking up a hairball. When I saw it before, I noticed that she passed some air, but that was all. Yesterday, I saw the other one do the same thing. He passed some air, but also passed an orangy cloud, along with a large pinkish transparent membranous looking chunk, which sort of looked reminiscent of a jellyfish. I have seen these things floating around in the past, but I never knew their source. Is this just how dojo's produce solid waste? Are my dojo's okay? Any insight from dojo keepers would be welcome. Thanks.
