Loach and Amano Shrimp Compatibility?

I've just set up a 38 gallon planted tank. It currently has some algae-eating Amano Shrimp (Caridina japonica), which we like very much. Unfortunately, we seem to have acquired a few pond snails along with the plants, too.

I'm actually fond of snails, but I know they can get out of hand quickly. I'd like to consider adding some loaches to the tank to take care of the snails, but I'm concerned about the shrimp. Does anyone have experience with loaches and shrimp, and if so, have you had success with a particular species of loach which ate your snails but left your shrimp alone? Botia rostrata appeals to me the most, but I'm willing to consider other small loaches as well.

I look forward to your reply, and I'm keeping my fingers
