How sneaky is B. modesta?

I've had a lone 4 inch Botia modesta lurking in my mixed loach tank for quite a while, though it's seldom seen. So far, no sign of any aggression - it just hides. Would adding another modesta tempt it out, or encourage it to be more sociable? Or would this just start territorial trouble? Most of the literature says that these fish are aggressive, and I am wondering if this is correct, or just one of those urban (fishy) myths that's never been confirmed.
