Question for river tank owners (and others)

I did a very thorough clean of my RT today, and dismantled the powerheads and flushed all the goo away. I noticed an increase in performance that was dramatic, and it raises the question - how often do you do this kind of housework?
I find HOB filters very easy to clean and fundamental to good biofiltration, and I clean my RT HOB every week really well. The intake sponges get scrubbed out or replaced at the same time. To pull up the powerheads is a bit extra, and I do it about every three months. I thought today it might do to clean them more often.

Just a question about how often you folks actually dismant
