O/T- Plants

I know some on the Forum keep live plants and im looking for some input towards something. One of my Anubias Hastofiola>sp< has alot of black algae on it. Now i could dilute bleach bath it and kill the algae but i dont want to loose any of the Anubias in the process. Ive used this method before with generally good results but sometimes a leaf will get destroyed over time. Someone told me about putting the plant in a plastic bag with some water and putting it in a dark place like a closet for a week or so. Anyone ever tried this or think its worth trying? Ive had this plant for well over 4 years and want to preserve it the best i can.
