do most loaches rest in odd positions?

I know clowns are famous for it, and I'm used to finding my weather loaches in strange places and positions - it's one of the things I find so appealling about them - but recently I've spotted the kuhlis lying on their sides/tanding on their tails against the glass/resting in preposterously fragile looking plants, and I wondered if it was a general loachy thing? I can't really picture hillstreams lying on their sides, for example, but do most of the others do it?
