earthworms revisited

I just read the post on feeding earthworms to loaches. I'd like to give it a try. I'm wondering if I need to clean them somehow or buy some from the bait shop. I could start raising some myself, as I plan to continue to collect and keep loaches. If I found them in the yard, the worm feedings would be few and far between. I wonder if I just rinsed them good in tap water. if that would be enough. I'm more afraid of introducing a harmful parasite to my tank than I am some pesticide that an earthworm may have digested.
