cramped clown loaches

I currently have two small clown loaches (between 1 and 2 inches long) in a 10 gallon tank along with a small red tailed shark and a small common pleco.

Is it all right to keep them in this tank while I look for a larger one, or is it abusive? Will they grow even in a cramped space? how large a tank do they need to be comfortable?

Also, do I need more clown loaches to keep them happy? If so, should I get them now or wait till I have a larger tank?
