we got 3 little clown loaches (1 inch) last saturday. one died monday, one today.
pH 7, 26C, ammonia, nitrite both 0, Tetratech 150 filter, air pump, chlorine 0. We keep coppersafe in the water because 2 neons had ick before although they are ick-free for 2 weeks now.
We have gravel, lots of fake plants, one rather small rock with holes and a cave, a driftwood that has been boiled but hasn't sunken yet.
there are 2 reasons i can think of:
1. not enough hiding place and stress: this is not likely. We have a pleco but he is very peaceful and the loaches seemed to had control over the cave.
2. water hardness. our water is VERY hard. our filter is very old and the carbon in there perhaps does not work any longer. we didn't change it because we are using coppersafe and the tank only recently finished cycling.
What shall i do?
change new filt
