RT plumbing opinion's

I'm just about to set up a 40 gal River/brook tank and was going to go with at least 1 Powerhead, Aquaclear 50, and 1 HOB, AC 70.

Mr. Thoene, I've tried to bring up a post you did about a River tank re-do(?), were you ran just 1 PVC pipe and used 1 or 2 HOB's(?), but have unable to find it when I do a search. I like to do the same thing, kind of. ;)

Here's were I need the opinion's. I was thinking of attaching just the Powerhead to the PVC pipe and leave the HOB intake alone. If it's a better idea to attach the HOB the the PVC could I still go with running 1 pipe using a T or V to split?
