Dojo loach barbel count

I went back to the LFS, and thanks to their barren tanks (except for sand at least which some of the loaches were burying themselves in) I was able to get a very good look at the loaches and especially their faces.

Misgurnus barbels I always thought were in 5 pairs. These guys had 3 long sets of barbels and what looks like a minature pair that hang straight down from the bottom of their mouths.

Misgurnus, Cobitis, or what? I was able to count barbels on 4 different loaches, and they all had 4 (if the short pair are barbels...not that I could imagine them being anthing else).

Other than that, they look quite a bit like the standard dojo loach...except much skinnier and the dorsal fin seems taller than normal. They're built much like an adult kuhli of around 4".

Any guesses?
