Unsolved Multiple Clown Deaths

A strange ilness has spread w/i my aquarium community. Everything was perfectly fine until about 1.5 weeks ago when first one of my loaches began to act different. He'd shun light, be VERY jumpy when I approach the tank and bounce off the walls when he got scared, decreased appetite, rapid gill movement and excessive hiding. This behavior then appeared in three other clown loaches in a different larger tank soon after. Three out of four have died and the fourth seems to be on his way out. If anyone has had an experience similarly or can diagnose this illness please let me know, I would appreciate some helpful info and ideas.
